Meet Henry At The Bar
Meet Henry At The Bar (Excerpt)
Eden was so ill.
The doctors had Eden doing chemo. She did it for a month, and it was really difficult for her. She described this to me, and told me that if things did not get better, she was going to “hang it up and meet Henry at the bar”. And she did exactly that.
This tune features bowed guitar, dual tracks of Les Paul Jr with a cello bow (pictured inside CD wallet). The bowed guitar solo moves on tenuously, slipping and sliding. The final bridge expresses hope – we’ll get together with Henry at the bar and have a good ol’ time.
Lyrics:
Oh I’m so tired, but I can’t sleep
Can’t make it – but halfway cross the room
Not too hungry, can’t hardly eat
Too tired to even have my bowl of soup
Is this the Life – I have to live?
Well this misery, it ain’t livin’
If this is Life – this is too hard
Gonna hang it up and meet Henry at the Bar
Oh I can’t read – or watch TV
Just suffer – in this agony
Got a freight train – running thru my head
If it don’t stop, be wishin’ I was dead…
Oh we’ll laugh and tell some jokes, have some drinks and maybe smoke
Reminisce about the good times
If this is Life – this is too hard
Gonna hang it up and meet Henry at the Bar
